Today, the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] logo represents the endless flow of that waterway, along with its boulder-strewn creek bed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], depicted by the three distinct dots within the brand's "river" mark.
In 1910, the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Shoe Manufacturing Company was turning out 800 pairs ofshoes daily,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], specializing in children's shoes as well as functional adult footwear. Simultaneously,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], on the Charles River in Cambridge,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Massachusetts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Russian immigrant cobbler Abraham Hyde had opened a shoe store manufacturing and selling "carpet slippers" made from rug remnants. By 1940,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Hyde footwear line had grown to include baseball shoes, roller boots,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and bowling shoes. During the 1960's,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the company produced footwear for NASA astronauts, including the boots worn by the first American astronaut to walk in space.
By 1968, the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Shoe Manufacturing Company was now producing [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Hyde acquired the seventy-year old company and relocated the footwear brand to its Cambridge headquarters. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] remained the preferred choice of a small group of serious runners,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], until 1977,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when the company's shoes were recognized with an award for "Best Quality" by a U.S. magazine. The resulting publicity established the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] name and its ongoing reputation for high quality performance athletic footwear. In 1985, as the brand continued to grow, it moved its headquarters to Peabody,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], MA,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], until 2005, when it was acquired by The Stride Rite Corporation of Lexington, MA.

Accolades have included numerous "Editor's Choice" awards from Runner's World magazine, as well as the publication's "International Best Innovation" award.
