In this important respect jobs are like anything else that gets replaced. Newer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], better ones come along and that is what people should want. Unfortunately, the transition time between jobs even with training can be painfully long. One of the rewards is more productivity which is the basis for higher pay and leads employees to a higher standard of living.
Pianlto's view is, in this Examiner's opinion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], quite correct. It implies lots of entrepreneurship. It also implies people holding multiple types of jobs over their working lives, which means continual training and education. From a human perspective that means a lot of expanding "comfort zones." As more older manufacturing jobs are lost there will be greater opportunities for new jobs to be created in non-manufacturing businesses.

"Creative destruction" occurs when old capital and old jobs are replaced by new capital and new jobs. Capital includes plants (or buildings) and equipment. This is a vital part of the mechanics of economic change that leads to a dynamic economy and to economic growth. The continual replacing of the old by the new is not limited to capital and jobs. It also applies to products,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that is old goods and services are constantly being replaced by new goods and services. Nor is this process unique to economics. For example, in our bodies old cells are constantly dying and being replaced by new cells.
An uncommon view about employment in Greater Cleveland is that more creative destruction is needed. Specifically, this area needs to lose more manufacturing jobs in order to expedite the transition from a twentieth century manufacturing center to a twenty-first century service-knowledge center. Perhaps the leading public proponent here of this view is a Cleveland economist named Sandra_Pianalto. She also happens to be President and CEO of the Fourth Federal Reserve District (Federal_Reserve_Bank_of_Cleveland),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], located in that architectural masterpiece on the northeast corner of East Sixth and Superior.
Job destruction and creations has worked in other cities, such as Pittsburgh, replica handbags, and Pianalto is correct in arguing it will work here as well. However this requires a change in attitude from defending the older jobs to welcoming the new opportunities.
