WATERTOWN, N.Y. ― A Philadelphia man is charged with third-degree robbery, a felony,newport 100s cigarettes, after allegedly pushing a store clerk, stealing a pack of cigarettes and leaving Nice N Easy, 430 Factory St., in a taxi cab early Wednesday morning, according to Watertown police.
Joseph A. Peterkin, 29, of 35319 Pleasant St., is also charged with second-degree harassment, petit larceny, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Police allege he shove store clerk, Bryan D. Morgan, Watertown, in the chest and left the store at 12:39 a.m. with a pack of Newport cigarettes valued at $9.12.
Officers stopped the taxi in the 700 block of Mill Street and arrested Mr. Peterkin. He was found in possession of cocaine in his front pocket and marijuana in both his socks, they said.
He is being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment Wednesday morning in City Court.
