New Balance has been known as a shoe for hardcore runners for decades, really ever since the 70’s. Rather than spend money hiring celebrities and buying TV time, New Balance continues to pour money into research and continues to make their shoes in America. Its been a winning combination for more than a hundred years.
New balance chi running shoe reinforces the companies cult status and keeps it close to its running roots. The 801 is made specifically for a type of runner who’s feet make contact first with their mid-foot. The style of midfoot strikers can be part of a larger group of training and health techniques called Chi-Running, but that’s a topic for another time. The important part to remember is if your running style has you hitting the ground with your mid-foot first, you should probably look into these shoes.
Though it’s tough to see from the outside,saucony grid tangent racing, these shoes are structurally different from so many running shoes. The lace support is actually built into the sole of the shoe, so the shoe really comes together as one complete unit, rather than a separate upper and sole. When I use my chi running technique and the New Balance 801s, I really do find myself striking the sidewalk with the middle part of my foot, rather than with my heel as I used to. With the heel striking, it was like I was putting the brakes on with every step, slowing myself down and making the next step that much harder. Now that I’m using my midfoot more, I am springing off of the arch of my foot into each step. My foot strikes no longer slow me down, but allow me to push off with more power into each step. My arch and entire foot has gotten stronger as I’ve used these techniques and these shoes.
All in all, I definitely recommend both new balance chi running shoe and these New Balance 801 shoes to anyone looking for a lower impact running technique.
