What are we thinking about the ,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych][link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? I know I'm very much liking them and really want to give each and every design a try on my feet. I want to know how it feels to run in them. To walk in the town and go cross country. What are they like in the wet? And really are they as great as they look?
There is a lot out there written about them in forums,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with a hell of a lot of people shouting their praises for one or other design, so I'm thinking they must be good.
A few years back I started to get more and more into running,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you know getting better trainers and reading more about running programs and stuff. I'd suffered from shin splints for a while (turned out I'd been running in overpronation trainers, I'd never heard of such a thing until I knew I was hurting. Now I know I'm a neutral runner).
I guess that's beside the point,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], apart from being misguided by magazines saying this or that about forefoot running or heel striking or whatever. I think I got quite confused until the fitness instructor at work said that people will naturally run on the forefoot the quicker that they go. Simple. I'm not saying that it means it's okay to heel strike if your slowly jogging but I mean that you just need to be aware of your body,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the speed and the ground.
I really think that's where the five finger Vibram shoes will really come into their own. Putting them on and walking I can only imagine will allow your mind to understand the bodily relationship to the foot. How the toes move when they fall onto uneven surfaces, how the ball of your foot spreads with the pressure of your body. I think we forget so much because there is no need to worry about the impact because we are so cushioned by the amazing soles of our brilliant trainers.
The human body has evolved for us to run, that's what we were made to do. The foot is like a spring enabling the energy to be absorbed and transfered back out to the next stridel. If we suddenly cushion that too much then perhaps we can do damage to our body.
Vibram say that their shoes will help strengthen your feet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], ankles and legs and improving the range of movement in the toes and ankles. This really can only be a good thing to bring about our awareness of our body.
Think I've just talked myself into getting some. Which ones? What are we thinking about the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
