From Ambassador’s house to Sichuan huts in 18 hou

The talks went way better than expected. A week ago I was a wreck trying to give my speech to a few coworkers in the office,Herve Leger Bandage Dress, but somehow after Monday’s speech in Shanghai, it all came pretty naturally. It was exciting to see myself going from being petrified to confident in public speaking over the course of a week. The other thing I realized is that I’m in a pretty fortunate situation being 24 and talking about China microfinance. Audiences that are closer to my age, like the Mendoza MBA students or the BEIMUN students are excited to have someone in front of them who is young and they can relate to while more mature audiences like the Stellar Delegates are excited to see someone who is 24, but looks 18, who has the guts to get out there and speak. I also get points because China microfinance is such a hot topic.

Being a young woman starting out in my career, it was inspirational to meet such a grouping of women where from the Economist to Jazzercise, cancer research to turbo jets,christian louboutin, each of them had made incredible strides and accomplishments in their own way.

In contrast was the Stellar Women’s Delegation which is made up of some of our current world leaders in business, journalism, academia, law,chi flat iron, medicine and government. Another twist to the talk is that two out of us four speakers were top Chinese government officials from the All China Women’s Federation (ACWF),Louis Vuitton Handbags, who unlike us Americans who pride ourselves in having our personalities lead our speeches, come from a culture in which formalities and poetry make up the core in public speaking. I had definitely unprepared to talk about microfinance and the “harmonious society”…
Last night I attended a dinner at the US Ambassador’s house in Beijing with the Stellar Delegates and now I just arrived in rural Sichuan at our planned second partner,Men moncler jackets, ARDY, for a capacity building trip. In eighteen hours, going from the halls of the ambassador’s house to Sichuan’s countryside where the majority of people live in mud huts is quite a contrast.

My Speech Bootcamp Week turned out to be a lot of fun. The contrast between the Beijing Model UN (BEIMUN) group I spoke to on Saturday and the Stellar Women’s Delegation was especially fascinating. BEIMUN was made up of 800, students between the ages of 14 and 18, from international schools around the world,women moncler jackets, coming from as far as Mexico and Egypt. It was impressive to see sixteen and seventeen year olds that are already accomplished and have so much insight on world affairs. A group of about four seventeen and eighteen year old girls, directed the organization of the entire conference. For example, Kalie, my guide, had been to the Hague twice for international model UN conferences. When I compare myself at seventeen and the BEIMUN students, the contrast is pretty amazing. At seventeen my biggest accomplishments were receiving most inspirational on the girls tennis team and sneaking out with friends to party on Grizzly Peak. These are definitely going to be the future leaders of the world.
