BEES skipper [link widoczny dla zalogowanych][/u] goes into tonight’s meeting in the best form of his career – and with his place in the 2011 Grand Prix series almost secured.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych][/u] finished a brilliant second in Saturday’s Italian Grand Prix to move up to seventh in the standings, and crucially 15-points clear of the cut-off for top eight qualification.
It was [link widoczny dla zalogowanych][/u]’s second podium finish in the last three rounds and it was so close to being a win as, after overhauling Greg Hancock midway through the final,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he almost got the better of Tomasz Gollob on the last bend.
But [link widoczny dla zalogowanych][/u] was still able to pay tribute to Gollob, who finally secured the World Championship title after 20 years of trying to become Poland’s first winner since 1973.
Gollob, who used to ride for Ipswich in the Elite League, looked like he had blown his best chance of success way back in 1999 when he lost ground in a controversial British GP at Brandon, but he has been the best and most consistent rider this season.
