CellBazaar has grown rapidly and now boasts 1.5 million users and averages 90,000 hits a day over its various formats. CellBazaar works on four synchronized platforms (exclusively with Grameenphone,Christian Louboutin, the nation’s largest cellular provider): SMS (texting), WAP (wireless application protocol), IVR (interactive voice response), and via the Internet.
With great distances to travel to market and poor information, rural farmers and entrepreneurs have historically been at the mercy of middlemen to offload their goods. CellBazaar, however, has created a means to facilitate the flow of information to buyers and sellers via mobile phone and the Internet. It even offers illiterate users the option to call and listen to postings in Bengla (Bengali).? This has created a market for buyers and sellers to interact directly, similar to Craigslist.? In a pointed example, CellBazaar recounts the experience of a jackfruit farmer that traveled a great distance to market and often found himself forced to sell to a middleman rather than see his harvest spoil.? CellBazaar,Men moncler jackets, however, linked him with other opportunities and he was able to fetch a more reasonable price for his fruit.
CellBazaar’s founder, Kamal Quadir, who developed the idea while working towards his MBA at MIT’s Sloan School, has been approached to implement this technology in other developing countries and its full impact has yet to be seen.
It has also created a forum for sellers who lack the capital to create brick-and-mortar businesses to market their goods and services. By improving access to information, Cell Bazaar helps to make the market more efficient, women moncler jackets, with the ultimate goal of being a force for change and bettering the lives of its many users, chi flat iron, both rural and urban.
As a recent edition of The Economist describes, mobile phones have enjoyed explosive growth in the developing world. This is particularly true in Bangladesh, home of Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus,Herve Leger Bandage Dress, the man generally credited with creating microfinance and Grameen Bank. There,Louis Vuitton Handbags, and with the help of Grameenphone, christian louboutin, mobile phone usage increased at a torrid pace. In 2005, there were 10 million users.
